Critically Beloved Musicians Whose Reputations Dropped (in retrospect)

What are some examples of artists making work that is critically beloved and then years later that same work is remembered in much weaker terms? This isn't about artists/bands who had albums that the critics loved, and then released some weaker albums and their overall reputation wasn’t as strong but everyone still recognizes those early albums as great. That is of course, unless it causes people to go back and reevaluate the early albums and find them worse than they remembered.
