Does anybody else notice this later in the series, especially when Tony and Angela officially become a couple? Like there's one where Tony wanted to get Angela an inexpensive painting or a ring and felt insecure about not being able to provide that to her on his salary. Angela then reminded him that she wanted to be with him and not his wallet.
And there was another one in particular where Mona's mom came to town and talked Angela into getting a prenuptial. They were negotiating with their respective lawyers and Angela seemed to be willing to give up more than Tony had. It really makes you wonder if towards the end, Tony felt inadequate. And in hindsight, was him taking that job in Iowa his way of gaining some control? Basically, he didn't want to still be seen as Angela's employee even though their relationship evolved beyond that seasons ago. |
