It has been said that each host has who has been given the show, has a vastly different style that they'll bring. David Letterman brought the eccentric and awkward, as well as celebrating if not intentionally seeking failure as one of his producers said. Conan O'Brien used a lot of scripted comedy bits and wacky characters, as well as remotes showing off his own comedic chops. Jimmy Fallon did a lot of games, music, and audience participation. And Seth Meyers has the political content and really letting writers take the stage as themselves.

The David Letterman era of NBC’s Late Night was the best & was the right lead out show to Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson before Carson retired in May 1992 when Jay Leno took over Tonight Show after Johnny Carson left.

This may come across as a bit of a hot take, but does anybody else think that Seth Meyers really isn't that good of late night talk show host?

I liked Conan's version of the Late Night show. Staying up till 12:30 in the morning to watch it was like a dream come true.

David Letterman is the best by far. I was too young to watch him often in the 1980s because of school. I watched him on Fridays and in the summer. YouTube is a goldmine of videos and compilations.
I didn't watch Conan O'Brien very often when he was originally on the air, but I've watched quite a bit of his stuff on YouTube. He had some great remotes. I've only seen a few videos here and there of Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. |
