CBS' "The Talk" to End after 15 Years - CBS Orders Final Season
"The Talk" Renewed for 15th and Final Season, Sets December End Date on CBS
by Lynette Rice April 12, 2024 "The Talk" is coming to an end: CBS revealed Friday that its daytime talk show has been picked up for a 15th and final season and will wrap its run in December. No decisions have been made yet about how CBS will fill the daytime time slot after December. “The Talk broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format,” according to a joint statement from Amy Reisenbach, President, CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, President, CBS Studios. “Throughout the years, it has been a key program on CBS’ top rated daytime lineup as it brought timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the globe.” “It goes without saying that hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy task, and we express our sincere gratitude to our amazing hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood, our Executive Producer/Showrunner Rob Crabbe and the hardworking producing team and crew,” the statement continued. “We also want to acknowledge our former show hosts and colleagues who contributed throughout the seasons. We truly appreciate the skill, creativity, and dedication everyone involved brought to the show every day. And of course, we thank the numerous guests who appeared, and the millions of viewers who tuned in daily. For the final season, we plan to celebrate the show and give it the proper sendoff it deserves when it concludes in December 2024.” https://deadline.com/2024/04/the-tal...24-1235883079/ |

What I think CBS will do with the timeslot of The Talk once it ends is most likely develop another game show to replace The Talk. Because after all when the soap opera Guiding Light ended it's run CBS was smart to replace Guiding Light with Let's Make A Deal and that proved that CBS was trying to expand their daytime game show lineup. But I could never figure out how The Talk continued to exist because it was essentially CBS's own answer to ABC's The View and how The Talk got huge ratings i'll never understand. Because I saw part of an episode of The Talk while waiting for Let's Make A Deal to start and I found The Talk unappealing and it seemed to get huge ratings because it had celebrities such as Wayne Brady Howie Mandel Jeremy Renner Brad Pitt Chris Pratt Betty White and Bette Midler do interviews on that show and how celebrity interviews would give a show huge ratings i'll never know the answer to. But when I think The Talk got low ratings was because of the departure of Sharon Osbourne and the addition of Jerry O'Connell couldn't help The Talk survive. But as I mentioned CBS will put a new game show in it's timeslot or expand Let's Make A Deal to 90 minutes

Unless CBS pulls the ultimate surprise out of its hat, this opens up the opportunity to fulfill its wish to debut the soap opera “The Gates.” I thought CBS promised one hour for the program.

With The Talk now set to end in December, CBS should give their daytime timeslot to Syndie programming once if The Gates does not get green lit while either The Bold & The Beautiful gets expanded to 1 Hour or Let’s Make A Deal(Brady) get move to The Talk’s soon to be former timeslot.

^ From what I have read, B&B is content with 30 minutes.
I see the “gates” wide open now for the Gates. I wouldn’t expect CBS to hand time back to the affiliates, at all. And even if they did, just expect another 1 hour talk show, or a double run on a court show. As to LMAD, in Eastern time, stations can choose either 10 am or 3 pm—-but per Wikipedia, very very few have chosen the latter. LMAD & TPIR are basically a “one-two punch” in the morning. cd |

I've only been a casual viewer either way, but I just knew that The Talk would not last nearly as long as a mixed panel (two male/three female) show.
