Default A breakdown of the 2010s Television era

Complete timeframe: Fall 2007 - present

Starts
  • As early as the premiere of The Big Bang Theory (Fall 2007)
  • As late as the premiere of Empire (Winter 2015)

Ends
  • As early as the finale of Regular Show (Winter 2016/2017)
  • To be determined

Phase 1: First wave of '10s shows debut - Fall 2007 to Spring 2013

Quote:
This was the first phase of 2010s television with premieres of many shows that would define the decade such as The Big Bang Theory, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Breaking Bad, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Penguins of Madagascar, Wipeout, Archer, The Middle, Planet Sheen, Modern Family, Glee, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Big Time Rush, Victorious, Parks and Recreation, Boardwalk Empire, Young Justice, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Adventure Time, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, JESSIE, Shameless, Community, Ultimate Spider-Man, Nashville, Lab Rats, Teen Titans GO!, etc. Television was still mostly stuck in the '00s during this time period but this was the first step of change.

Many of these shows actually started out with an '00s atmosphere (Parks and Recreation, The Penguins of Madagascar, Victorious, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Glee, Breaking Bad, and Big Time Rush could arguably be more 2000s than 2010s, even though they're either usually associated with the 2010s or they ran well into the 2010s) but as they progressed, the '10s atmosphere would fully settle in.

The first '10s shows would come to an end such as Planet Sheen, Victorious, Parks and Recreation, Young Justice, etc.
Phase 2: The apex of 2010s television - Summer 2013 to Spring 2019

Quote:
This phase was the most defining period of '10s television. The shows that began in the previous era would hit its ultimate peak in this period, and with the rise of streaming platforms, this was the beginning of a new era. Shows like Orange is the New Black, The Goldbergs, Steven Universe, Uncle Grandpa, Clarence, Power, black-ish, Empire, Girl Meets World, Flash, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Better Call Saul, Nellyville, Mr. Robot, Bunk'd, Supergirl, American Housewife, Animal Kingdom, Fuller House, The Get Down, Atlanta, Lucifer, Snowfall, Raven's Home, 13 Reasons Why, Everything Sucks!, American Vandal, On My Block, Cobra Kai, Schooled, etc.

More '10s shows come to an end such as Breaking Bad, The Penguins of Madagascar, Wipeout, The Middle, Glee, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Big Time Rush, Parks and Recreation, Boardwalk Empire, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Game of Thrones, JESSIE, Community, Ultimate Spider-Man, Nashville, Lab Rats, Steven Universe, Uncle Grandpa, Clarence, Girl Meets World, Nellyville, The Get Down, Everything Sucks!, American Vandal, etc.
Phase 3: A pause/holdover - Summer 2019 to Summer 2022

Quote:
As much of the most defining shows of the '10s had come to an end as well as the incoming Covid-19 pandemic and the explosion of streaming, there was somewhat of a pause on television shows, with their being a delay in filming. The old shows would still air new episodes but not as many new series premiered during this time if it was not on a streaming platform.

A ton of '10s shows would come to an end during this time such as Orange is the New Black, Power, black-ish, Empire, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, Supergirl, American Housewife, Animal Kingdom, Fuller House, Lucifer, 13 Reasons Why, On My Block, Schooled, etc.
Phase 4: The last '10s shows finally die - Fall 2022 to present

Quote:
This is the last phase of '10s television where the remaining shows of the decade finally come to an end such as The Goldbergs, Flash, Bunk'd (most likely), Atlanta, Snowfall, Raven's Home (most likely), Cobra Kai, etc. The '20s era of television was in full force with streaming as the dominant form of watching TV shows now.

Some of these shows would end up even having a '20s atmosphere to it based on how deep into the new decade the show lasted in. Some of these shows (like Cobra Kai and Raven's Home) are arguably more '20s than '10s.
