I think all of the above is what hurts current superhero shows on television. The shows and characters should be strip down to just the basics, with a nonserialized plot that focuses mainly on action and just enough story detail to make it work. Stand-alone episodes make it easier for a casual fan to get interested and hooked into watching a show, over having to watch a show from the very beginning.
People already know who Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are, so limited episode time shouldn't be wasted on a heavy backstory, or even a serialized plot. There is a reason that The Adventures of Superman, Batman The Animated Series and the Wonder Woman television show works well in syndication. |
