Question MTV Video Music Awards History: Top 5 Most Memborable Peformances

*1984: Madonna rolls around in a white wedding dress while performing "Like a Virgin."

*1989: Bon Jovi inspire MTV to create their long-running "Unplugged" series.

*1989: The censors at MTV find trouble when one of Tone Loc's dancers apparently didn't have anything underneath their top (and I'm not talking about a hat).

*1990: Madonna & company perform "Vogue" while in Victorian style outfits.

*1991: Prince shows us his bare bottom through his yellow outfit.

*1992: Kris Novolselic of Nirvana bumps his head while trying to catch his bass after throwing it up in the air during their performance of "Lithium."

*1992: Guns N Roses & Elton John perform "November Rain" together.

*1992: Host Dana Carvey (while in "Wayne's World" mode) plays the drums w/ U2 while U2 were via satellite.

*1992: The Red Hot Chilli Peppers bring their "posse" on stage.

*1993: Neil Young joins Pearl Jam to perform "Keep On Rocking In the Free World."

*1994: Snoop Doggy Dogg rolls out on stage in a wheelchair and proclaims his "innocence" during his performance of "Murder Was the Case."

*1994: The Beastie Boys perform "Sabotage" while wearing lime-colored business suits.

*1994: The Alexander Red Army Ensemble cover "Lynard Skynard's "Sweet Home Alabama."

*1995: Slash joins Michael Jackson to open up the 1995 VMAs.

*1995: Big winners TLC perform remixed melodies of their hits.

*1997: Sting joins Sean "Puffy/P. Diddy" Combs to perform "I'll Be Missing You."

*1997: Marilyn Manson just about one ups Prince in the "exposed buttocks department" while closing out the 1997 VMAs.

*1998: A braless Madonna is joined by Lenny Kravitz to perform "Ray of Light" at the very beginning of the show.

*1998: Marilyn Manson wears a rather "unique" jumpsuit while performing "The Dope Show."

*1999: Kid Rock & the late Joe C. are soon joined by Run DMC & Aerosmith to open up the 1999 VMAs.

*1999: Snoop Doggy Dogg reunites w/ Dr. Dre to perform "Nuttin' But a G Thang."

*1999: The return of Nine Inch Nails after what seemed to be a five year long absence.

*2000: Eminem leads a pack of clones into Radio City Music Hall.

*2000: Britney Spears pulls a stripetease act during a remix of "Ooops, I Did it Again."

*2000: Blink 182 are joined by a pack of dwarfs during their performance of "All the Small Things" (get it) to close out the 2000 VMAs.

*2000: 'N Sync perform while standing behind stratigically placed TV sets.

*2001: Michael Jackson makes a special guest appearance during 'N Sync's performance of "Pop."

*2002: Axl Rose & company finally emerge from what seemed to be a decade long slumber to close out the 2002 VMAs.

*2002: P. Diddy brings a whole new meaning to the term "over-the-top" w/ his pyrotechnic filled, circus trapeaze act inspired perofrmance as he's joined by the likes of Usher & Busta Rhymes.

2002- The award that never was. Dig around on the Michael Jackson post to read about it.

Isn't the MTV awards where Milli Vanilli was outed as being fake? Watch Behind the Music to see the clip. The record jams on the words "Girl, you know its true" over and over again until they ran off the stage. Nah, come to think of it- I don't think it was the awards show
