It's all the result of poor writing and poorer planning from the writers and showrunners. I'm not even a huge fan of SATC, but everything I've read and heard of AJLT makes it sound like an awful continuation of the series. Poor portrayals of the older cast, unlikeable new characters, dumb and boring plotlines, etc.
