I was thinking about the episode from the final season ("Baby, It's Cold Inside"), where Jack and Mr. Furley are trapped in a freezer. Had they had cell phones, then they could've instantaneously called Janet and Terri for help instead of simply hoping that they would be found.
Jack and Janet could've also theoretically used cell phones to try to reach Cindy in the episode ("The Case of the Missing Blonde") where she suddenly disappears. In that same episode, Larry has to use a phone booth outside of the Regal Beagle to get in contact with Jack. |

Three's Company did include a couple new technologies in the show. They had them playing the Atari video game in one episode and Jack and Janet went on a computer date when that was new...
Cell phones in 1983 cost $4,000. Larry didn't even have a dime for the payphone.

When the robber took their wallets, I am sure he would have taken their cell phones too.

There's an episode during one of the earliest seasons, where Mr. Roper wants to know what the capital of Ecuador is for his crossword puzzle. If this happened today, then Mr. Roper could've simply looked for the answer with the aid of Google. But of course, we take technological advances like the internet for granted unlike back in 1977. Back then, Janet had to pull out an old encyclopedia to help Mr. Roper out.

The episode 'Janet's Secret' where Janet and Jack pretend to be married to fool Janet's parents.
In the episode Jack already has a date with Shelley Green driving in from Oxnard but can't call her to cancel because she's doesn't have a phone in her car. |

BUT would a cell phone have gotten service in an air-tight freezer? |

If those episodes were remade today the show would be over in 5 minutes.
