"Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" Debuts at #1 while "The Flash" Drops to #8
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Adventures to a $60 Million Domestic Opening Weekend Box Office Victory - IGN
by Adam Bankhurst July 2, 2023 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has won the global weekend box office with ticket sales reaching $130 million, with $60 million of that coming from North America and the other $70 million coming from overseas. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the fifth entry in the franchise that began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, and it serves as Harrison Ford's last adventure as the legendary character. It also came with a reported budget of roughly $295 million before marketing, so it has an uphill battle ahead of it if it hopes to make a profit. Reviews have been mixed, but there has been some warmer reception online than there appeared to be for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at launch back in 2008. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse placed second with $11.5 million, which was only a 39% drop from the last weekend. The latest Spidey film's North American total has reached $339.87 million and it has crossed $607 million globally. Elemental also had a 39% drop and that was enough to keep it in third place with ticket sales of $11.5 million domestically. It has brought in $89 million in North America and $187 million globally. Jennifer Lawrence's No Hard Feelings took fourth place with $7.5 million and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts rounded out the top five with $7 million. The Flash, unfortunately, dropped all the way to 8th place in its third weekend with ticket sales only reaching $5 million. That equals a 67% drop from last weekend for the latest DC film. The Flash has earned $99.2 million domestically and $245.3 million worldwide. https://www.ign.com/articles/indiana...office-victory |
