Battlestar Galactica is a show that, alongside Star Trek and Stargate, is hailed as one of the best sci-fi television shows ever made. Both the original and remake series have their own acclaim to fame and are each worth a long rewatch during this pandemic.

Yet out of the two, the rebooted Battlestar Galactica series, which began in 2003, is truly something special. The remake series replaced the original show's glossy 70's aesthetic with a darker, more violent universe.

Battlestar Galactica's reboot contained themes and character arcs that also changed with the times, involving truly deep ideas such as the existence of God, what it means to be human, are we truly alive, and the separation of military power and politics to name just a few.

This series has created several iconic storylines and moments that fans of either drama or sci-fi can enjoy with extremely complex characters that show how heroes can become villains and villains can become heroes because in the end to be human is to be complicated.
