Throughout the nine seasons of Seinfeld, we were teased as to whether Jerry and Elaine would get together in the end.

The pair were always flirtatious, but viewers only got to experience them as a proper couple once on screen. After the two try to be friends with benefits, they slip back into being a couple, only for the next episode to find out they had split up.

At one point, we even saw Jerry propose to Elaine when he suddenly felt his emotions more strongly than ever. Yet when Elaine decides to accept, Seinfeld has changed his mind. At one other point, just when it looked like Elaine might declare her love for Jerry in the show's finale, she instead insisted she loves United Airlines.

The pair might not make it as a couple, but we still loved them.

The writers were told to write for Elaine as if she was a guy. Then they would often write for one of them, and the story would be switched to another character.
