TV NBC Orders "Deal or No Deal Island"

"Deal or No Deal" Spin-off Ordered at NBC
by Peter White
May 12, 2023

NBC is bringing back "Deal or No Deal" with a new twist.

"Deal or No Deal Island" is set on the Banker’s private island where he makes the rules and there are twists behind every palm tree. The series is described as a mix between the original long-running format and "Survivor".

Howie Mandel will exec produce, but no word whether he will also host.

Hidden on the island are over 100 cases with millions of dollars split between them, which teams must retrieve so that they can play a game of Deal or No Deal against the Banker.

Only one team will survive until the very last episode, where they’ll compete to beat the Banker for the biggest prize in "Deal or No Deal" history.

Deal Or No Deal Island? What a weird concept for Deal Or No Deal. How can they turn Deal Or No Deal into a Survivor like show? I have a feeling that many people won't watch Deal Or No Deal Island when it debuts because of the way they have turned Deal Or No Deal into now? All I can see is NBC is trying to revive Deal Or No Deal the right way and not make it like the CNBC version that they had in 2018. As for Howie Mandel's replacement as host NBC will most likely choose a NBC sitcom star but it's surprising that Howie will be executive producer of Deal Or No Deal Island

How was Deal Or No Deal Island today? I know it was gonna debut today and how does it compare to Deal Or No Deal? Also is there any new models on Deal Or No Deal Island or are they the same models from the CNBC version of Deal Or No Deal?

Well, it's finally here. Deal or No Deal Island. No Howie, no audience, no amazing music, nothing of the sort. Instead we get...a mix of Survivor and a janky variant of Deal or No Deal. Does it work as Survivor or as Deal or No Deal? Tune in and find out.

I happened to see a clip of Deal Or No Deal Island on Youtube and how on earth did NBC ruin a classic game show favorite? From the clip I saw it feels more like a mix of Deal Or No Deal and an adult version of Legends Of The Hidden Temple with Survivor-like elements and the Banker's challenge in the clip I just saw featured contestants being like Hawkeye trying to aim for cases by using a bow and arrow and it felt like a challenge on Legends Of The Hidden Temple. And I can see a lawsuit between Deal Or No Deal's creator and Survivor due to this show because THIS is a carbon copy of Survivor but made with Deal Or No Deal. And why did Howie Mandel decide not to host Deal Or No Deal Island and get replaced with a new host when Howie Mandel was the original star of Deal Or No Deal? But the new host is weak and I guess Howie didn't want to host because of money. But I can expect Deal Or No Deal Island not to last and be cancelled after next week's episode

I need to binge this whenever I get the chance. I kept seeing the adverts before the Super Bowl and it interested me.

"Deal or No Deal Island" Renewed for Season 2 at NBC
by Peter White
May 7, 2024

Ahead of its season one finale, NBC is banking on another season of "Deal or No Deal Island". The spin-off of the long-running game show has been renewed for season two.

NBC said that the series is averaging 5.8 million total viewers across all platforms, more than doubling its live audience.

With expert gameplay, adventure and a new layer of strategy, the reimagined Deal or No Deal Island had fans on the edge of their seats, just like the original,” said Corie Henson, EVP, Unscripted Content.

A huge thanks to our crew and the biggest gamer of them all, host Joe Manganiello. Together we’re thrilled to be back with another season that will be sure to test the contestants and the Banker’s limits.

It was incredible to see how audiences immediately took to the new format of Deal or No Deal Island, welcoming Joe Manganiello and the Banker’s guests into their homes and bringing new life to the iconic IP,” added Sharon Levy, Chief Executive Officer, Endemol Shine North America.

We’re thrilled that NBC has picked up a second cycle and eagerly anticipate seeing how the Banker will physically test and mentally challenge a new season of contestants as they compete for a transformative jackpot.

I didn't intend to watch this Deal Or No Deal/Survivor mash up but then I found out that Boston Rob is one of the competitors so I changed my mind and decided to watch. Boston Rob has become legendary for competing in these reality competition shows and I like to watch whatever show he competes in.

When Boston Rob first competed on Survivor in the Marquesas season, he got voted out about half way in to the season, if I remember correctly he just missed out on being one of the jury members. Anyway, I remember thinking at the time that there is something unique about this guy and we will be seeing more of him, and sure enough that is what has happened.
