Not surprising. At least back in the day MTV tried to remain relevant over thirty years ago.

On a side note, supposedly Kurt Loder's hiring was a direct result of Live Aid. MTV had its regular VJ's host its coverage, and they were clearly out of their depth and were hammered in the press. Loder was then the editor of "Rolling Stone". Kurt Loder became the "adult in the room" on MTV, adding gravitas to the lighter, fannish music tidbits that Martha Quinn and friends would offer during their shows.
