Furlan was best known for her roles as Delenn on Babylon 5 and Danielle Rousseau on Lost. Her death was announced on her Twitter account. A cause of death hasn't been revealed, but Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski said on Twitter that the cast and crew had “known for some time now that Mira’s health was fading.” "It is a night of great sadness, for our friend and comrade had gone down the road where we cannot reach her. But as with all things, we will catch up with her in time, and I believe she will have many stories to tell us, and many new roles to share with the universe," he wrote in a tribute to Furlan. Lost's Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse pay tribute to Mira Furlan Furlan, who died Wednesday at age 65, appeared on 20 episodes of the ABC drama as Danielle Rousseau, a French scientist who had shipwrecks on the island sixteen years prior to the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. “Danielle Rousseau moves into the light. Rest In Peace, Mira… we are deeply grateful for all you did to protect the island,” Lost co-creator Lindelof wrote on Instagram. Cuse, who served as showrunner with Lindelof, added: “Mira gifted us all with her grace, intelligence and talents. She was a vital person whose artistic gifts contributed so much to defining the mysteries of our show. She will be truly missed.” |
