When you get the general picture I think out of all the 90's NBC sitcoms The Torkelsons is one sitcom that could've gotten more popular in TV. Because when it first came out I think NBC had planned an image of developing family friendly sitcoms and The Torkelsons was gonna be their first step to that image. But even with a nice theme song performed by The Judds it proved that The Torkelsons was gonna be aimed at a family friendly audience. But I think the main reason The Torkelsons got low ratings in the beginning of the show was they added guest stars that really didn't help the show's storyline. Like one The Torkelsons episode had Elmo from Sesame Street as a guest star and I couldn't see why Elmo was needed in that episode. Another episode had Drew Carey as a guest star and I think that episode was Drew Carey's big break. With episodes like this I don't know why or how they came up with them? I truly think why they created the storyline of Millicent Torkelson moving to Seattle and becoming a nanny was the start of a basis for a new sitcom and when that happened they created that sitcom and christened it Almost Home and Almost Home was a lot better because Almost Home had better episodes that had good storylines and I think it should've lasted longer because Michael Jacobs had made himself a huge name in TV thanks to ABC and he had high hopes to do the same with Almost Home. I first discovered The Torkelsons when my mom and I saw it on Disney Channel and I thought it was a new sitcom and then we saw Almost Home too and liked it. But I think this show deserves to be seen in reruns again because of it's wholesome storyline
