'The Golden Girls' ended in the 1990s after seven successful seasons but spun into a spinoff series. While it was fine, there was a better story to be told. |

I agree it would have been better than them running a hotel. However it would have grown just as stale as the hotel. St Olaf stories were a tiny part of the Golden Girls and that is what made them special. To devote that to an entire premise of a sitcom would grow old really fast. It would be funny maybe once maybe twice and jump the shark. The Ropers on Threes Company had some of the funniest banter and jokes of the series. Yet that banter was only a small part of Threes Company. It did not have the legs to devote to an entire new series.
I love the fact that the girls actually travel to St Olaf once. It was a hysterical episode. But I dont think you could keep that going. What made St Olaf funny for 8 seasons was it was given in small doses and not worn out. This is why the Ropers failed too. Like a great spice in a recipe, small doses are what makes it work with success. |

Omg, no. Rose would never move back there. That premise would have been awful.
