BBC's "Ghosts", on Which CBS Hit is Based, to End this Year

The hit BBC comedy "Ghosts", on which the Rose McIver-led CBS sitcom is based, will end with Season 5.

The announcement was made in a joint statement by executive producers Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond, which reads as follows:

“After five incredible years haunting the halls of Button House, we have decided that the time is right to let our beloved sitcom Ghosts rest in peace. We have just wrapped filming on our fifth and final series and can’t wait to share it with you all later this year.

We could never have imagined the reception the show has enjoyed, or the fun we have had making it, and we would like to thank our amazing cast and crew as well as everyone at BBC Comedy, BBC1 and Monumental Television for their tireless support. But most of all we’d like to thank everyone who watches.”

Why Ghosts Season 5 Is The Right Place To End The Show

BBC’s original series Ghosts has been renewed for a fifth and final season. Even with Ghosts’ critical success, this is the best idea for the series.

The Brits usually know when to stop while they're hot.

Well I liked the original all the same, as it and the CBS version are two different animals besides the premise. It bothers me to see one side not be tolerant of the other (such is the 2020s in general in today's society...) The casts and crews of the shows love one another and support both shows. Why can't some of the fans?

If anything good will come from this bloody strike, it's that casual CBS viewers will get to see the UK one and be familiar with its world and characters. Which would make what I REALLY want more likely: a mashup of the two Ghosts!
