Question Not-too-talented actors who lucked out and got cast on a show that ran forever

I guess this is the classic tale of "failing upward" or being at the right place at the right time.

Jimmy Fallon is the first name to come to my mind. That isn't to say that he isn't at all completely untalented or uncharismatic. But it's obvious that he should thank Lorne Michaels a great deal for his success whether it be at SNL or The Tonight Show.

When it comes right down to it, Jerry Seinfeld is no Spencer Tracy

Seinfeld breaks the "never let the audience know that you know you are acting" rule, quite often. The writing, and situational involvements cover this up, but Seinfeld himself is the least talented actor on the show, IMO, as far as authenticity goes.

I have two:

Pat Priest - Loved her but she was very limited as an actress.

Franklin Cover - Very lucky to get the part Tom Willis, nothing more than a line reader.

Jim Belushi--- I don't think he has an ounce of talent in him and his show "According To Jim" ran for what seemed like forever.

Kevin James is another one with no discernible talent whose show "king of queens" just went on forever.

and lastly, Ray Romano. In the years his show was on, I never saw him deliver an actual performance beyond just standing there looking befuddled.

I was also going to mention Ray Romano. Although he improved as the seasons rolled on, you could tell he was still a standup comedian. The actresses carried the show.

Others have voiced my choices.

Jim Belushi, who got his fame only because of his dead brother John.

Kevin James. I only watched King of Queens to look at Leah Remini in tight jeans and Jerry Stiller, plus this was still pre-internet and had no cable. I dont think James himself was too awful on the show. The guy I cant stand is Patton Oswalt. Just hate everything about him plus his ******* know it all personality. Oswalt was in the second season of Steve Carrell's show "Space Force" but mercifully was on a brief amount of time. Hate when I enjoy a show and then someone comes on it who I dont like, but that's life.

On Everybody Loves Raymond, the show could have killed off Ray and Debra and just have it be Robert, his wife and his parents. Again, I dont dislike Ray Ramano, but the guy has one personality and that's it. On this show he was a mama's boy and a wuss. Debra was just pissed off all the time. But Patricial Heaton was a "hot mama" worth looking at.

Jimmy Fallon is one of those guys for some reason I just want to punch in the face, along with Ryan Seacrest.

I think Seth Myers should be doing The Tonight Show and not Fallon. But in fairness, I watch a lot of Seth Myers from an offshoot of his show called "A Closer Look" which does news stories several times a week, which I never watch Fallon's show or videos.

Colbert and that clown on ABC, Jimmy Kimmel are basically unwatchable, especially Colbert. Kimmel especially likes harping ******* viewpoints and tearing down conservatism. I dont get why a multimillionaire is so against a political party that would cut their taxes but that is veering into politics which isnt allowed here.

You're right about that. We closed our politics board. It would be nice if you stopped trying to insert politics into many of your posts. You should also refrain from your use of the term libt***. Some might find it derogatory, harmful and unnecessary.

I can’t stand either of them, along with Kelly Ripa.

Franklin Cover is a great example - he was the weak link on The Jeffersons and was so one-note.

Joshua Jackson is another actor who I can’t understand how he keeps getting work. Every line is delivered in that same monotone with very little inflection.
