Question Sheryl Lee Ralph takes a jab at two of the Designing Women

At the AARP Awards, she thanked Judith Ivey (who had just won something before her) as one of two women who were nice to her when she joined the cast of the show.

The only nominees are:
  • Dixie Carter
  • Annie Potts
  • Jan Hooks

Sheryl Lee Ralph seems to like both Annie Potts and Delta Burke here:

Wasn’t Carter mean to Jackee Harry, too?

Carter was mean to everybody. Julia Duffy is professional and doesn’t speak about it, though, but she was ostracized by the cast.

The Etienne character was the worst thing about that final season. The writing was poor for the most part, but she was obnoxious and her episodes are the worst of the entire series.

It’s been said by many that Hooks was a real b!tch in life.

I wonder if Julia Duffy was fired or she simply did not want to return. If she was in fact fired, then was it with the presumed intention that Jackée Harry was going to be a regular going into Season 7? Even so, isn't it still odd to cast yet another replacement rather than let the audience keep adjusting to Julia Duffy's character? Bare in mind that the ratings certainly stayed strong during Duffy's tenure even if her character struggled fitting in. Plus, she had no credits the year that Judith Ivey (BJ) was on the show so it seems like she could have stayed on in the role another season

I’d say Carter and Hooks.
