Since John Larroquette is a "Friend of Bill", maybe he could incorporate the character to help her. Maybe explain that before the original Night Court, Fielding was an alcoholic but then stopped drinking on his own (I dont remember Fielding ever drinking on the original show unless I am wrong) and his addiction turned to sex, and how he overcame that.
The founder of AA was a one William "Bill" Wilson. He was quite the character and I learned a lot about him in the 1990's when I was having illegal chemical issues. He was a wonderful writer, and a great early leader of the movement in some ways, but in other ways, he was full of crap. Bill was also a sex addict who cheated on his wife with numerous women (known as “13th Stepping" in AA jargon). This is widely known and documented in the AA movement. Bill also experimented with LSD as possibly a cure for alcohol addiction, and he did it more than once, he was in experiments in the 1950's when he was around 60 years old. The Fielding character can be in "recovery" for his sex addiction and youthful drinking and drug use, take Abby to a meeting and meet the crazy people there. AA has a lot of strange characters. Like I said I was in it for several years in the 1990's, I liked the practical side of it but the so called "Spiritual" stuff to me was bunk. |
