The best fielding play in Series history and perhaps the best catch ever, Mays' over-the-shoulder grab in the eighth inning kept Game 1 between the Giants and Indians tied at 1-1. The Giants won it 5-3 in 10 innings and went on to sweep the Series.

The Carlton Fisk homer is my favorite. It was more than just a dramatic game winning World Seiies homerun, it came at the end of one of the best games of baseball ever played in the regular or post season. On top of that it had the effect of briniging baseball back from a low ebb of attenedance. The Fisk homerun rejuvinated baseball.

The Oakland A's were and are my team. They were so much better than the Dodgers that the two teams didn't belong on the same ballfield together. The A's had a tremendous season in '88. They were one pitch away from winning that World Series game before Gibson hit the homerun. Rationally I should give kudos to Gibson but--forget, it I absolutely hated that homerun. It was painful to see and worse yet, it led to the A's loseing the series. Everytime I see that replay I scowl.
