I had already posted this in the Growing Pains forum, but since it concerns Just the Ten of Us too, I might as well post it here as well:

Allegedly, Bob Iger, who at the time was the head of programming at the ABC network, didn't like the show. This was coupled with Miller-Boyett Productions, who had already been producing Perfect Strangers, Full House, and Family Matters for ABC, wanting the the TGIF block all by themselves. And Just the Ten of Us was the only show on the TGIF block that wasn't produced by them. So ABC for whatever the reasons, cancelled Just the Ten of Us, and filled the Friday night, 9:30 p.m. slot with the Miller-Boyett produced Going Places, which only lasted for a single season.
