The character of Dorothy, as portrayed by the great Bea Arthur was a strong, confident woman who was also smart and attractive. She was my favorite character on that show.

I dont see Dorothy as mean at all. She was smart and sarcastic. That is not mean.

Dorothy was my favorite too. I don't think she was ever "undesirable." She was smart, funny and sarcastic (not mean.) She was great.
