What was the purpose of tambourine girl - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

she says very little, the camera wasn't on her very much. You could cut her out and nobody would notice.

I don't get her. I get she was supposed to be portraying Susan Cowsill, but still.

Susan's performance was way more animated and added to the group.

Other than just a fifth kid, very little. Also, there were very few if any scripts involving the youngest two--they were just "there" and got a few one-liners. Everything revolved around Shirley, Keith, Laurie, Danny, and even Reuben.

Honestly, the only kids that "mattered" on the show were Keith, Laurie, and Danny. I agree with others who suggest that Chris and Tracy were practically props, who may have gotten one or two lines each per episode.

I'm also guessing that's why they figured that they could get away with recasting Chris after the first season, because he always seemed like such a non-essential character in the grander scheme of things.

This is also why I think that viewers really disliked the Ricky character from Season 4 because why his he getting his own spotlight when they could've used that time to develop better, the two younger Partridge kids.
