I too find it kind of odd that Bud would immediately find a girl like Mindy to be undesirable. I get that Mindy's character was meant to be really nerdy and had the big, bulky braces, but if you look at photos of Lisa Picotte in real life, she's actually really pretty.
In this photo, she kind of reminds me of Maura Tierney: ![]() Like the podcast hosts said, Lisa was pretty in a "girl next door" kind of way, so her character was actually more realistically attainable than a girl like Kelly. ![]() ![]() I guess that I'm weirdly turned on by Mindy in the scene from "Blonde and Blonder", where she pulls out her hair claw clip soon after she arrives at the party with Bud. Not to mention the end scene in the episode, where she surprises Bud by saying "It's hickey time!" Maybe I saw Mindy as this cute, quirky girl who wasn't like Kelly or the other girls that she hung around or that Bud normally pursued. And that's what really made her character fascinating. Like I just said, she simply wasn't like "other girls" (i.e., the typical, Playboy/Baywatch pinup and bombshell types) if that makes sense. |
