Default Alyssa Milano's First Marriage Didn't Last Very Long

Actor and philanthropist Alyssa Milano, who's best known for playing Samantha Micelli on "Who's The Boss?" from 1984-1992 and Phoebe Haliwell on "Charmed" from 1998-2006, has been married twice in her life. According to the New York Daily News, The "Charmed" star has been married to her second husband, talent agent David Bugliari, since 2009. The couple first crossed paths in 2007 after Milano became Bugliari's client, then enjoyed a whirlwind romance before marrying only two years later, per The Biography.

Milano and Bugliari's successful relationship, which has produced two children, could be attributed to the fact that they're quick to ask for forgiveness. "People often break out the old cliché. 'Love means never having to say you're sorry.' Boy, do I call bulls*** on that," Milano shared in her book, "Sorry Not Sorry." She added, "Love, in many ways, is a constant state of apology. It means recognizing the things that you fail at, knowing that the person you love sees them too, and trying so hard to be better at them" (via People). And, while Milano once told Entertainment Tonight that "divorce is not an option" for her and Bugliari, that wasn't the case with her first marriage to Remy Zero singer Cinjun Tate.

Alyssa Milano married Cinjun Tate in 1999

Long before Alyssa Milano ever laid eyes on her current husband, David Bugliari, she was legally betrothed to Cinjun Tate, the lead singer of the alternative rock band Remy Zero. The band's most recognizable track serves as the theme song for "Smallville," which ran from 2001-2011. According to People, Milano and Tate first sparked romance rumors in November 1998 when Remy Zero was playing a show at The Roxy. "They made eye contact all night," shared talent booker Nikki Sweet. "She was so cute, pressed up against the stage, singing all the words to their songs and dancing."

Three months later, the pair married on January 1, 1999, in Louisiana. According to the Associated Press, the couple enjoyed a private ceremony in front of their friends, family, and Milano's "Charmed" co-stars, Holly Marie Combs and Shannon Doherty. Per the report, the couple wasn't able to enjoy "newlywed status" for long due to Tate's touring obligations (via MTV). Despite Tate's impending tour schedule, the couple definitely enjoyed their wedding day, however. "They danced to a Cajun song for their wedding dance," a friend of the couple shared. "[Alyssa] looked very happy."

Alysaa Milano and Cinjun Tate's marriage lasted only eight months

Unfortunately, Alyssa Milano and Cinjun Tate's marriage didn't even last a year. According to E! News, Milano filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences," in December 1999. However, various reports suggest that, while Milano may have filed first, it was actually Tate who wanted to leave the marriage.

According to Star, Tate moved out of Milano's home ahead of their wedding anniversary after returning from tour. "He got back from Europe 30 lbs. lighter," shared an anonymous friend. "He had lost a lot of weight thinking about what to do about his marriage. He hasn't been happy for a while" (via Geocities). Prior to their split, Tate spoke with The National Enquirer and hinted that their relationship was in trouble. "We're not spending a lot of time together because we're both very busy," said Tate. "We're working out a lot of stuff right now." And when pressed about the reason he was living in a "ramshackle apartment building" instead of Milano's mansion, Tate shared that he likes to "hang out" there because it reminds him of where he grew up (via Geocities).

Of course, given that neither Milano or Tate have publicly spoken much about each other in recent years — and Milano skipped over Tate entirely while recounting her former romances to Access Hollywood (via Us Weekly) — it's impossible to know just what happened during their marriage.
