Molly has pretty much been in the spotlight since 2008. The writer of that article must have been smoking the good Hawaiian stuff the Tumpy has.

I could never understand why she turned down the main role in Pretty Woman. She was opposed to playing a prostitute. Part of acting is expanding your roles. Pretty Woman was a comedy. She made Julia Roberts a huge star for turning down the role because she was nominated for an academy award. Roberts won a Golden Globe for Pretty Woman. It just seemed the perfect role for her and I always wondered if she had regret (although they never admit it). It was her chance to step away from playing teens in 80s teen movies and TV shows.

While she appeared in comedies, the comedy was based around her and she did not really have the punch lines. IMHO Pretty woman would have been great for her. |

I liked her. She was of my generation of the 1980's and my high school years were in a mostly white, suburban high school like her characters. She is a year younger than myself. I especially liked Pretty in Pink, and the soundtrack of that film was excellent, so much so I bought the album. The 1980's as a youth was a special time and wish I could go back and live that time again and change things.
From the late 1980's until she was in the Dahmer miniseries in Netflix, I havent seen her in anything. I have mentioned that on the thread here which talks of the Dahmer series, and was told she has been in other shows the last ten years. For whatever reason she seemed to have dropped off the map for about twenty years. I am 55 and she is 54 and like beautiful women my age and still think she is attractive. She is older and has gained weight, but isnt overweight. As someone said, the Dahmer show "dowdied her up" but she is still beautiful, even more so, at least to me. She has made her money and has done what she wants. Now she is back as an actress. |

Not only did she turn down "Pretty Woman," but "Ghost" as well. Years ago I remarked on another board how unbelievable that was that she turned down such huge opportunities, but someone else pointed out that Molly taking those roles wouldn't have meant the movies would have necessarily been the same smash hits they were; they could have ended up differently. So that's a fair point.
