Was it weird that Al didn't end up with Ilene - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

And did anybody genuinely like the woman he ended up marrying, Trudy or did she just seem so boring and plain?

It was a bit strange. Ilene was a good character and she and Al seemed ideal together. Trudy was okay, but it felt more like they (writers, producers) thought: the series is gonna end, we should match Al up with someone! And then just brought in a random character.

I like the actress who played Trudy, she is always good, but that character seemed a little bland. Other than being loaded, I guess.

Come to think of it, I think the show would have been better if Ilene had married Al and they could have more storylines in the later seasons, instead of resorting to brining in Marty's girls to fill out the cast.
