Default What Young Sheldon Fans Really Want To See In Season 6

https://www.looper.com/919251/what-y...e-in-season-6/

Quote:
Fans are conflicted about what's to come on Young Sheldon

Fans are so excited for more "Young Sheldon" that they've gone to Reddit to discuss what they'd like to see. One Redditor started the conversation by listing their top five "Things I want to see in Season 6," with two of their five dealing with Sheldon's father, George Cooper Sr. In particular, fans are both excited, and anxious, to see what will happen with George, and how the show will address two major plot points related to "The Big Bang Theory" that surround him: George's extramarital affair with his neighbor Brenda, and his eventual fall into alcoholism. This is in addition to their concerns about George's inevitable death.

Fans have already had trouble rationalizing the different depictions of Sheldon's father on "Young Sheldon" and "TBBT." George is no longer the negligent, alcoholic, uncaring father adult Sheldon talked about on "TBBT," and is instead a thoughtful, attentive father — granted, one who is frequently seen drinking. "Isn't George already addicted to alcohol?" u/cybersteel8 replied. "He has a beer in his hand in every waking moment."

This kinder, gentler depiction of George is also why fans are concerned about his affair. "I know George's cheating needs to happen at some point," u/Sleepy_Oboist said. "I am already dreading [it] and I hope it will not be too dramatic." Many fans don't want to see this sweet father figure have an affair at all — especially since "Young Sheldon" seems to be pointing the blame squarely at Mary's flirting with Pastor Rob as George's reason for cheating.

One character needs to go, according to Reddit

Speaking of Pastor Rob, a few Redditors on the aforementioned thread are done with him. "I want to see Pastor Rob leave the show, as he creeps me out," a deleted user said. u/AshRae84 partially agreed, stressing that they have their doubts about the problematic character, but that they "love seeing [actor Dan Byrd] on my screen every week." It seems likely he'll be around as the adultery plotline continues. "It's a bit of a soap opera that we enjoy telling, and it will continue as we move forward," co-creator Steve Molaro told TVLine.

But fans aren't excited about absolutely everything that's going to happen on the show. "I'm still waiting for (dreading) George's death," u/cok0002 wrote. They'd better steel themselves because the patriarch's death is definitely coming — in fact, it has already been foreshadowed on "Young Sheldon." In Season 4 Episode 17, "A Black Hole," Dr. Sturgis visits Sheldon's family and the group discusses alternate universes. Jim Parsons as Adult Sheldon narrates, "There's a lot of things I wish I had said to my dad while he was around — that I appreciated him, that I loved him — which is why I am grateful for the times I did tell him how I felt."

Despite a small discrepancy about how old Sheldon actually was when George died, fans had better get ready for the tear-jerking moment to come, possibly in Season 7.

I agree Pastor Rob needs to go, can't stand him. And George should not have an affair either, spin-offs are not required to stick to every detail of the parent show. Frasier certainly didn't.
