Have you ever wondered how some actors are seemingly ubiquitous and then they just evaporate into thin air?

Evaporating into thin air means to disappear suddenly and completely. Disappear means cease to be visible. But that's not important for now.

An actor named Avery Brooks wasnt brought up in the story. He was a player in a 1980's show called Spenser for Hire and then was the lead of Star Trek
eep Space Nine (seen by many as the best of the Trek shows), then was in an acclaimed movie called American History X.....and then was completely off the map....I thought and have read that after American History X, that Brooks sort of retired and went into teaching at a college of dramatic arts. Cirric Lofton, who played his son Jake has stated (and this is second hand information talking about Brooks on Facebook) that Brooks has been (ironically named) "blacklisted" from Hollywood for being difficult and having certain political views (like being VERY BLM and racist (maybe)) was the reason he hasnt got any work. Dunno. |

I saw the movie "Showgirls" and thought it was a decent movie. I dont get the hate for it. Yes, there are sex scenes but there are sex scenes in most R rated movies. Elizabeth Berkley was good in this and the end was very satisfying. Because of this movie and the critics, she has never worked again.

Gary Sandy from WKRP. This was the ONLY THING I have ever seen him in. He was a good actor, handsome, congenial and well liked, but his career seemed to have gone nowhere.
I think he ended up doing off Broadway and dinner theater. |

I think of two TV shows, ALF and Family Ties.
No one on ALF except for the actor who played the father (Max Wright) did anything after ALF. The daughter Andrea Elson bascially went to college and got married and lives in anonymity. She made good money on that show, maybe enough to live the rest of her life as a middle class person. I havent really seen anyone on Family Ties do anything after that show was over except for Michael J Fox. The younger daughter, named Tina Yothers formed a rock band and I have heard her music and its pretty damn good actully (and surprisingly) with her as a lead singer. She know has black hair and doesnt look like her anymore. Looking at her Wiki she has done a few other things. Justine Bateman has mostly done theater work and has kept busy. I will say for the "girls" on the show that they have been married ONCE and have not been divorced and have two children apiece. I dont think from just "disappearing" that they havent had a life, and being on those shows made them a decent amount of money. |
