I never cared for Alec Baldwin. He just comes across to me as a bad person in general and his public actions has concreted that thought of him from me. From the leeked communications of him and his teenage daughter with him calling her really nasty names. Just being aggressive with the media and the public. He comes across as a mean jerk. But the movie picked the right guy for the role. Unlikeable and mean as hell. I think roles are given sometimes to actors due to their personality and reputation and Alec was probably the first they called.
The only thing I enjoyed him in was the movie Glengerry Glen Ross in the opening scene where he plays a very arrogant individual coming into the real estate office to threaten the salesmen of their jobs and openly mocking them of their failures. It can be argued that the salesman had a point on why they werent selling because of the "bad leads" but the Baldwin character had zero sympathy. Give what the company gives you or get out, and/or work what we give you, fail, and get fired and out on your can. Dude was brutal. I am pro-Trump and mostly pro-MAGA and cried literally (not bawling, but depressed) when it was clear Trump wasnt going to make it. Trump's time in my opinion was good, but Trump himself wouldnt temper his crazy personality (not talking politics moderators!). But Baldwin was pretty funny as Trump, although it was done out of spite, and Baldwin himself almost volunteered to play the role on SNL (he is very wealthy and was paid basically beer money to do it). I sort of feel sorry for the guy over the “Rust” incident. This was an accident. I dont know the whole story because I have not read it deeply, but I think it was horseplay at worse, and why was the "prop gun" loaded with real projectiles? It was and it was an accident but this is still a crime of negligence. Baldwin, no matter how much of a jerk he is (and he is) has to live the rest of his life that he accidentally killed this woman and he is paying for this and will the rest of his life, even having to pay an army of lawyers to keep him from getting indicted at worse or fending off crippling lawsuits at best. The problem is that Baldwin, again is such a jerk that everyone is against him. If someone beloved like Robin Williams did this, there would have been bad fallout, but it would have been more considered an accident and lawsuits. It also gets worse for Baldwin because of his reputation and the fact that he is rich, and the feeling that he will crawl out from under this if he pays enough money. Sad. |
