I know that this may come across as petty but I'm still very curious about this. It could be game show hosts, talk show hosts, news journalists or pundits, sports announcers, reality TV hosts, etc. that are for a lack of a better word, polarizing. Basically, anybody who you legitimately find their personalities to be grating and abrasive, smug and self-serving, disingenuous, boring and lacking in charisma, or they're simply incompetent at their jobs.

Colbert comes to mind, but I really lost these late night shows after the Carson era years ago.
Since I was on topic there, I'll go off topic and go to radio hosts--I absolutely can't stand Chad Benson, who I think is syndicated nationally. Total jerk. |

Drew Carey on The Price is Right
As an individual, I think he is genuinely warm and caring about game show contestants. That's a tremendous attribute. What irritates me to no end is his flippant remarks about the individual games of TPIR. Basically, he literally tells contestants- We have this cheezy game that's been around... or- it's kind of tacky that we have contestants follow these rules or- I'm sorry that we are offering these doo-dads as cheap prizes Drew really pisses me off because I feel that he's insulting the longtime viewers who love watching contestants try to win a washer and dryer, etc. I feel that Drew is playing a Johnny Carson game show host or the Guy Smiley from Sesame Street. I realize that Bob Barker was a hard person to fill his shoes, but Drew does the job as if it's a big joke. I wouldn't care if Drew was hosting a game show that was created for him, but that's why I no longer watch TPIR. |

This is cheating a bit since he's not actively on television right now, but in hindsight, Matt Lauer after NBC fired him. It's actually a big surprise that he hasn't wormed his way back to the airwaves after being exposed as a creep and sexual predator.

Ellen DeGeneres after the lid blew off about how she created and fostered a toxic environment on her just concluded talk show.

Keith Olberrman is definitely one of those you either love him or hate him type of TV personalities whether it be in regards to his politics or his reputation for being incredibly difficult to work with. Olbermann does in my book, have a bit of a smug, no it all type of aura about him.
I had a hard time getting behind Alec Baldwin when he was hosting Match Game and his short-lived talk show on ABC. I guess I can never forgive or forget him (among all of the various controversies in his life and career prior to the Rust incident) for that vile voice mail message that he left his then 11-year old daughter. Jeannie Zelasko, when she hosted the Fox networks Major League Baseball coverage in the 2000s. I'll never forgive her for the disgusting way that she treated Ernie Harwell (the legendary broadcaster of the Detroit Tigers) at the 2005 All-Star Game. Zelasko abruptly cut Harwell off barely 20 seconds into him telling a story about Al Kaline. I get that Ms. Zelasko likely had somebody in her ear to wrap it up, but she could've done it more smoothly. I'm getting increasingly weary of seeing Nick Cannon the more that I keep hearing about his very irresponsible behavior in his personal life (fathering multiple children with multiple women in a short time frame). I stopped watching At the Movies (formally Siskel and Ebert, Roger Ebert and the Movies, and Ebert and Roeper) when the "two Bens" (Ben Mankiewicz and Ben Lyons) took over. I thought that Ben Lyons in particular, harmed the show's credibility. |
