Quote:
When a popular TV character dies, it's tough for fans to continue watching the show without their memorable presence, and sometimes the story never feels the same. In some cases, character deaths are necessary to move the plot in a different direction, or the actor's time on the show is up. But there are many instances when viewers wish that these characters would stay alive until the very end as it's too painful and heartbreaking to imagine their passing, even now.

I felt Dee Dee from Modern Family shouldn’t have passed.

Aunt Eddy from the middle. Shouldn’t have passed.

Aunt Bee from The Andy Griffith Show/Return To Mayberry Shouldn’t have passed.

Edith Bunker from Archie Bunker’s Place. Shouldn’t have passed.

I watched a few of those shows from the list.

A few deaths like
Barb/Stranger Things and Catelyn&Rob/Game of Thrones were necessary for plot development of the show and planned. From that angle, they didn't die too soon.

Then there was Will/The Good Wife was on the show for 5 seasons before being killed, while the series lasted for 7. So he had a good run. I think his killing was sad but unnecessary, somewhat a easy option for the writers, just so that Alicia could be ambivalent on her feelings as she loved him but didn't want to leave her husband.

They had to write out Edith Bunker somehow. It was because Jean Stapleton got tired of playing Edith and decided to leave the show so she could do other acting roles. So the only thing to do was to have Edith die.

Ed.
