This guy is a typical revisionist historian who lets his personal biases cloud his thinking. Of course, people 30 years from now won't be highly critical of the 2022 Grammys, we're so enlightened now because we have geniuses like this guy as the arbiter of good taste.
People liked Natalie Cole's Unforgettable to the tune of 7 million copies sold. I think that speaks well for something he totally slams. The critic thinks his taste is superior to anything embraced by the public. There's nothing wrong with going back to earlier songs by departed musicians. I was just watching Billy Preston & Eric Clapton cover George Harrison's music and it was very well done -- unlike this reviewer, I welcome tributes to great artists and their best work. And I won't value what future revisionists will say, somehow how long Nat King Cole had been gone is an issue...? |

The only thing that I can say about that particular Grammy show is that it may be the one that Tanya Tucker talks about taking part in when she wrote her autobiography named Nickel Dreams which is now 25 years old. She said that she defended country music at some point to the press the group of people were, I guess. She wasn't happy with the other musical formats getting so much of the show's TV time leaving almost nothing for those in country music and so she didn't hesitate to give the media what for about it. That is one of the many things that I love about her. She doesn't care what kind of heat it is that she may catch in return by going with whatever or whoever her heart tells her to go with.
![]() God bless you and Miss T always!!! Holly (a fan of her since 1991) P.S. She had a nomination that year for Best Female Country Performance and it was the song that started it all for me where she is concerned named "Down To My Last Teardrop". Go here to see who her competition was. Her CMA award for Best Female Artist was given to her the previous fall.
