Hard to believe. A great run though.

We would see Elizabeth again in November 1972 in "The Victim" where she is still vaguely channeling Samantha in her performance. it is the last time you see Elizabeth play a part in a similar way that she portrayed Samantha. She would be totally different in every performance following this movie.

Truly an awesome show. I never knew Bewitched outside of the daytime reruns, as I was born too late. Still seems crazy that it ended production more than 50 years ago.

Fifty years is a long time ago, that was a time when women's clothing was continuing to evolve -- perhaps the trend of shortness for dresses & skirts just had to change, becoming much longer in contrast to a few years earlier.
I enjoy seeing Elizabeth very late in the series, she was given some fairly mod fashions to wear as Samantha.

Publicity photo with Dick Sargent. Liz is now wearing chokers fairly
regularly. Note her bracelet/watch(?) and very mod hip-hugging
belt with metal clasp in front. An interesting look at Liz in pants::

From the trip to Italy: A different choker. A very colorful skirt,
which she wears with knee-high socks. Around this time, Liz's
hair as Samantha appears quite long and sometimes in a very
straight style. It has some attractive waviness in this episode:

Here's a really lovely image showing a close-up view of one of
the chokers. Liz now commonly parts her hair in the center, and
it looks so nice with flowing waves:

Here is a long, sleeveless dress with prominent jewelry. An
elegant look and a very pretty face, what more could one ask for:

"Bewitched," the first big hit show for ABC historically, concluded its eight-season run on this day in 1972. In those days, eight seasons translated into 254 episodes.

We wrap up our Bewitched tribute on a Thursday night... what better night than the night Bewitched had so much success during its series' run.

Fifty years ago, on March 25, 1972, the long running hit ABC series Bewitched ended it eight year run. We've paid tribute to that remarkable series this past week, beginning on March 25, 2021.

The series was a remarkable achievement for both the ABC Television Network, and Screen Gems/Columbia Pictures production house. Eight year run, and then a fifty year massive success on television syndication around the world that continues to this day.

There are plenty of wonderful and talented people to tip our hat to, including William Asher, Sol Soks, Harry Ackerman, Dick York, Dick Sargeant, Agnes Moorehead, David White, Casey Rogers, and of course, Elizabeth Montgomery. In addition, all the wonderful supporting cast, including Erin Murphy and all the surrounding family members who came in, flew in, or popped in during those eight seasons. The crew behind the scenes also deserve an incredible amount of tribute, for they were creating this television magic at a time when computer assistance was not even a thought in this time period.

That time span of fall of 1964 (the pilot was actually filmed in November of 1963) to the spring of 1972 was a remarkable time of change and progress, and just the fact that Bewitched was able to successfully navigate those eight years and be welcome in American homes during that remarkable time is a testament to the quality of the program and to the charm and talents of the actors who brought those characters to life... in particular, Elizabeth Montgomery.

In the long line of impactful actresses who have left their mark on television comedies over the decades, the list certainly includes Lucille Ball and Mary Tyler Moore. But right up there is the name Elizabeth Montgomery.
