Default The Conners Finally Acknowledged Roseanne's Legacy (Despite Her Exit)

https://screenrant.com/conners-dan-r...-chuck-speech/

While The Conners has always struggled with Roseanne's legacy on the sitcom, Dan's season 4 comments on her character were a fitting, overdue tribute.

It was a good episode. Dan had a list from Roseanne.

I watch the show, and always like when Roseanne is mentioned, whether by actual name or "mom," "your mom," etc. After the first episode and one in which Jackie talked about wishing she still had her sister, had her to run The Lunch Box with, etc. I've felt there should be more reflective/sad scenes, even if it's a sitcom. The episode in which they found her bible was effective in that regard. We saw the girls cry hearing how much pain their mother was in.

One thing I'm still waiting for an explanation; why there are no visible photos of Roseanne in the living room. We know why in regard to the actor (she'd have to be paid), though in the context of the story, no mention.

I think it was stupid for getting rid of her just because she expressed an opinion about something.....

It wasn’t an isolated incident, she was given many warnings and still refused to listen. The tweet was just the straw that broke the camels back.

My father was married to my mother for over 65 years from 1952 until 2018 (Mom died in January and their anniversary was in August). They had a very strong and loving marriage and they rarely fought ever. (I can only remember twice in my life when they really "came to blows" (not violence but screamingly pissed off at each other)).

I do not have any siblings, and I live far away (although I am going to move home again in several months) and my father fairly quickly married a woman from his job that he has known since the early 1970's. She is a nice lady and if my father had to get married to someone, he couldnt really have done that much better. It still sort of surprised me that he did get remarried but the man has never ever lived on his own. He lived with his family as a child, was in the service for a short time and married my mother from when he was 20 until he was about 85 years old. He has a lot of money, but the man cannot live without someone caring for him and the house was a disaster the short time he was "single" after my mother's death.

My problem is that all the pictures of my mother have been put away, hidden from view in drawers or wherever. None have been tossed, but to me, my mother's memory has seemed to have been erased. I can see that it is because of the new wife and the new wife doesnt have to see the pictures and have to compete with my mother's memory, but I find it disconserting. It is almost like to him that she does not exist (since she died) so there is no need to dwell on it. I had an older brother who died two years before I was born at the age of 8, his new wife asked my father about him and my father told her that he didnt want to talk about it. Even though it has been over 60 years ago, it's just too painful and what point would it make?

My father also told me once in a heart to heart talk that he isnt afraid of death and lived a good life (unlike me, death freaks me out, ever see the Seinfeld episode where George was talking to the old man about death...that's me. Or what Woody Allen says "Im not afraid of death, I just dont want to be there when it happens).

So my mother is gone and she isnt coming back and life goes on. But my mother lived to be 86 years old but unfortunately had health problems about the last five years of her life. What I do not like is that my mother is creamated and the ashes are in an urn on the mantle. Mom needs to be buried. IF my father dies, she will. I just think it is a bit creepy that her ashes are over the fireplace while all the pictures of her have been erased.

Funny to talk about this on www.sitcomsonline.com.
