After holding out because he felt he didn't receive a compelling contract offer, DiMaggio has closed a deal to reprise his Bender role, joining fellow Futurama cast members Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman. DiMaggio's lack of involvement generated outrage among Futurama fans, especially since Hulu didn't rule out casting another actor to voice Bender. “I’M BACK, BABY!" DiMaggio said in a statement. "So damn grateful for the love and support of fans and colleagues alike during this whole time (especially my wife, Kate), and I cannot wait to get back to work with my Futurama family,” he said in a statement. “#Bendergate is officially over, so put it on the back of a shelf behind Xmas decorations, or maybe in that kitchen drawer with all of the other crap you put in there like old unusable crazy glue, or maybe even put it in a jar you save farts in. Whatever floats your boat, I don’t care, you get the picture. I’M BACK, BABY! BITE MY SHINY METAL A**!”

Futurama's John DiMaggio: "I didn't get more money" to return for Hulu's revival series

DiMaggio closed a deal to return after holding out in what became known as #bendergate. But as /Film reports, DiMaggio said he didn't actually get a raise. "People are like, 'I'm so glad you got more money!'" DiMaggio said at Phoenix Fan Fusion on Sunday, adding: "I didn't get more money. But what I did get was a lot of respect, and a lot of head nods from people who are like, 'Yo bro, I see you and thank you.'" Ultimately, DiMaggio says his agent told him it's better to be part of the Futurama revival than to not be part of it. "But listen, this was the best thing about that fight: I had Disney, Hulu, I was holding on to their collective testicles so hard that they couldn't, y'know, there was nowhere for them to go," he added. "But there was also nowhere for me to go, and who wants to hold on to those for that long?"
