In the pilot, Mona had to do a lot of persuading to Angela to give Tony a chance when he applies to be her housekeeper. Angela is naturally, hesitant because she assumed that she was going to hire a woman and didn't at all expect a man. But then Tony tells Angela that he brought his young daughter with him from Brooklyn. But let's say that Tony didn't have Sam in his life and was childless, would Angela be less inclined to let him live in her house let alone hire him?

Oh, I'd say absolutely. She was stridently against him until Mona brought up Samantha. That was the only factor that loosened her tightness a bit to open the way for him.
