Chris Noth Fired from "The Equalizer" after Sexual Assault Allegations

Chris Noth is off "The Equalizer". He has been fired from the CBS drama after sexual assault allegations have come out against the actor.

“Chris Noth will no longer film additional episodes of The Equalizer, effective immediately,” Universal Television and CBS said in a short statement.

It’s understood that Noth will be seen in one original upcoming episode of the drama series, which has aired seven episodes of its second season and is currently on hiatus, as well as future repeats of episodes that have already aired.

He played William Bishop.

Chris Noth's final Equalizer appearance airs two weeks after firing over sexual assault allegations

Sunday marked Noth's final appearance on The Equalizer in what Deadline is calling a "satisfactory conclusion" for his character William Bishop. When Noth's firing was announced on Dec. 20 -- four days after The Hollywood Reporter published two accusations of sexual assault against Noth -- there were reports that he had only one more episode that had already filmed. What wasn't known was that Noth's final episode would air so soon. According to Deadline's Rosy Cordero, Sunday's episode, titled “Separated,” provided an easy way for the writers to move on from Noth's Bishop character. Cordero adds: "It is as yet unknown how the show will address his departure, but after Bishop reconnected with his secret son in the prior episode, 'When Worlds Collide,' it would be easy to send him off into the sunset without much effort."

It is such a dicey, delicate situation that requires a great deal of respect," the actress told People (the TV Show!) of her former co-star, who was fired last month days after The Hollywood Reporter detailed two past allegations of sexual assault. "That's a personal thing that he's going to have to deal with." As for how his character, William Bishop, is being written off, she said: "We are figuring out what we want to do creatively on the show and how we're going to deal with that character."

Nearly two years after being accused of sexual assault by multiple women, Chris Noth is speaking out about the firestorm that led to his dismissal from CBS’ "The Equalizer" and erasure from Max’s "And Just Like That...".

In an interview with USA Today, the 68-year-old TV vet once again denied the allegations, but conceded, “I strayed on my wife, and it’s devastating to her and not a very pretty picture. What it isn’t is a crime.”

“There’s nothing I can say to change anyone’s mind when you have that kind of a tidal wave,” Noth tells USA Today.

“It sounds defensive. I’m not. There’s no criminal court. There’s no criminal trial. There’s nothing for me to get on the stand about and get my story out, get witnesses. And there’s even more absurd add-ons that are completely ridiculous, that have absolutely no basis in fact.”

“I’m not going to lay down and just say it’s over,” he adds of his upended career.

“It’s a salacious story, but it’s just not a true one. And I can’t just say ‘Well, OK, that’s it for me’ because of that. I’m an actor. I have other things that I want to do creatively. And I have children to support. I can’t just rest on my laurels. So yeah, I have enough to let a year drift, but I don’t know how to gauge or judge getting back into the club, the business, because corporations are frightened…. I have to just continue on.

It’s rough, because people are scared, and their fear leads them. And I have to just persevere because I still have a creative life.”
