Were there color codes in the first-run syndicated episodes

I think it was kinda there, though not as strict as it became later.... Actually I think the color code was there barely as early as season 2.... maybe even a little in season one.... Fran usually always wore pink, Vint usually always brown or tan, Naomi usually always yellow... Ellen white, Eunice green, etc... I'm guessing that is why they put Bubba in green as well

In season 1 they played more loose with colors.... I remember Fran wore light blue a few times and I thought that really suited her

Interesting. I dont think it was purposely done but they tried to match the color with the character. For example Fran was considered an old maid so old pinks would suit that character. Naomi was flashy so yellow would suit her. Mama seemed to only wear the same pattern dress LOL
