Peter Scolari, best known for his role as Henry Desmond on the hit '80s sitcom "Bosom Buddies," died of Cancer today at age 67 in his Los Angeles home. Per http://www.filmreference.com/film/31/Peter-Scolari.html Peter Thomas Scolari was born in New Rochelle, New York on September 12, 1954. He and Tom Hanks made their joint sitcom debut on the acclaimed, yet short-lived 1980-1982 sitcom "Bosom Buddies," airing on the ABC Television Network from November 27, 1980 - March 25, 1982 for 2 seasons and 37 episodes. Per his manager, Peter had been ill with Cancer for 2 years; his 2nd best known role in TV Land is his 6-year run on the '80s "Newhart" alongside Bob Newhart, who remained his Golfing buddy in the years after "Newhart" ended in 1990. In Peter's memory, I personally would LOVE IT if Paramount Plus were to make "Bosom Buddies" its Debut streaming home, with each episode lovingly Restored from the original ABC Network Prints--including, but not limited to, its original theme song ("My Life," Written by Billy Joel and Performed for the show by Atlanta Studio Musician Gary Bennett), and songs omitted from Certain Episodes for DVD e.g. "Chances Are," "Yakkity Yak" and "Happy Days Are Here Again" to name some examples, as well as the original Paramount Television logo of the era at the end of each episode. In his 40s, per an interview with Oprah, Peter, after years of Drug Abuse and Self-Medicating, was given a confirmed diagnosis of Drug-induced Bipolar Disorder and took Medication every day from thereon for the rest of his life. RIP Peter Scolari. 09/12/1954 - 10/22/2021 |

An emotional Tom Hanks remembers Peter Scolari: "We were molecularly connected"
Hanks discussed the recent death of his Bosom Buddies co-star for the first time last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! -- which once featured Scolari in a tribute to Hanks. "Peter — God bless him, I'll miss him every day — he had the body of a gymnast, I mean like a professional Cirque du Soleil gymnast. He could do, like, the iron triangle and stuff like that; he was a juggler," Hanks recalled to Kimmel. "I don't know how many people truly do change your lives when you cross paths with them, but he and I met, we picked up the scripts, we started screwing around, and I actually thought, 'Oh, this is it. This is how this works. This is like a hand inside a glove....For two years at Paramount Studios, on unlucky stage 25, we cut it up... We were molecularly connected in a way that we started speaking the same language." After Kimmel showed a Bosom Buddies clip, Hanks got emotional. "Peter has a lovely family, his wife Tracy (Shayne), he's got absolutely great kids," Hanks said. "We lost him to the emperor of all maladies, so thanks for letting us show that." |

This was really sad. I loved Bosom Buddies when it first came out and had a bit of a crush on Peter. RIP, my friend.
