Just Under One Million People Tuned in to Watch “Chucky”

The Child’s Play franchise made its debut on the small screen this week with the premiere of Don Mancini’s “Chucky,” which is airing on both USA and Syfy.

Both networks were all-in on promoting the series premiere, with Chucky making appearances on everything from “Maury” to WWE’s “Monday Night Raw”. He even joined forces with Michael Myers!

So how many people tuned in to watch the continuing adventures of horror’s most iconic killer doll? Interestingly, more people watched the premiere on Syfy than on USA, with 0.451 million people watching.

As for USA, 0.357 million tuned in. In total, that brings the live viewership to 0.808 million, just shy of 1 million.

In the key 18-49 demo, it should also be noted, the Syfy rating was 0.18, while the USA rating was 0.13.

The full premiere episode was also uploaded onto YouTube the day after it premiered, and thus far over 260,000 people have streamed it.

I love this show. I wasn't too thrilled with it the first couple of episodes, but it has really picked up. Unlike Halloween, I like that they don't rewrite anything and show scenes within the show of the old Chucky movies. I hope this show gets another season or movie. Chucky is a horror villain with a story that can make it work either way.

Don Mancini Shares the Teaser Logo for "Chucky" Season 2

Your favorite killer doll will return in "Chucky" Season 2 later this year, set to continue the adventures of Chucky and the various other players in Don Mancini‘s original franchise.

Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Mancini reminded us that Season 2 is indeed coming in 2022, and he’s also shared the official logo for the upcoming new season.

“We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with Chucky,” franchise creator Mancini recently said.

“Many thanks to our partners at USA, Syfy and UCP for their incredible support and guidance bringing Chucky to the small screen, bigger than ever. And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks, and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022!’”

Jennifer Tilly to Return as Tiffany on "Chucky" Season 2; Fall Return Targeted

Tiffany Valentine’s story on "Chucky" will continue.

Jennifer Tilly has closed a deal to return for Season 2 of the USA Network/Syfy series, from the movie franchise creator/writer Don Mancini who serves as showrunner.

Tilly originally signed up to reprise her role as Tiffany Valentine from the movies in multiple episodes of the first season to help the series build on the legacy of the film franchise.

Her new deal will keep Tiffany on the show following the Season 1 finale cliffhanger.

"Chucky's" second season is slated to premiere on the two NBCUniversal cable networks in the fall (USA & Syfy), likely keeping with the pre-Halloween tradition fitting the horror title.

Season 1 debuted Oct. 12, 2021.

Syfy has confirmed that Gina Gershon, Joe Pantoliano, Sutton Stracke, and Meg Tilly will take part on Season 2 of "Chucky". This casting marks a number of firsts!

- the first reunion of Gershon and Pantoliano since Bound in 1996.

- the first time the Tilly sisters have worked together.

- the first ever TV cameo of Jennifer's real like BFF Stracke (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills).

"Chucky" will keep killing it after the series was renewed for a third season. The series, which is based on the classic film franchise, returns to both USA Network and Syfy for its third run.

The second season premiered in October and ran through the end of November. NBCU said that the show ranked as a top ten drama last year in the 18-49 demo.

“The cast and crew of Chucky would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to season two, which we’re delighted to announce has now spurred the official greenlight on season three. This news has made Chucky very happy.

Thank Damballa for that because otherwise Chucky would have been frankly impossible to deal with. Many thanks also to our partners at SYFY, USA and UCP for helping us keep Chucky busy. See you in 2023 for what Chucky himself promises will be his scariest season ever,” said Don Mancini.
