Joe Buck seemed caught by surprise when Fox returned from commercial break after the New York Giants got a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys. ALSO: NFL should stop putting Cowboys-Giants games in prominent TV timeslots.

That this happened is an affront to every sports fan, it is completely inexcusable. If I were a fan of either team, I'd be very upset.

Similar shenanigans annoy me in baseball, especially with the looming advent of "pitchclocks" and other ersatz remedies for what they blame as being "pace of play" issues. I guess the field coordinators in baseball are a little more in control of the synch? I often see outfielders playing catch with each other when the broadcast first returns from a commercial break. At first I wondered what the baseball was doing in the outfield, until realizing it wasn't the baseball, it was just a baseball.

I understand that advertising pays the bills, but there should be limits. Clearly the extra ads take away from the excitement of gameplay, by diluting the product with "bleah".
