At age 22, Dave Chappelle starred in a short-lived Home Improvement spinoff on ABC

The YouTube series "Behind the Backdoor Pilot" recounts Chappelle starring in Buddies, an ABC sitcom premiering in spring 1996 that was axed after a few episodes. ABC ordered Buddies after seeing Chappelle and Jim Breuer -- who was months away from joining SNL -- play friends on a March 1995 episode of Home Improvement. Breuer, however, was replaced after filming the original pilot, as he has brought up in his standup act. |

I am guessing that his getting a role in the show came from his appearance in the season four Home Improvement episode named Talk To Me.
