The original premium pay tv Disney Channel of the 1980s which was filled with actual Walt Disney vault programming.

G4TV is actually returning sometime this year. It's going to be a non-linear network though so it's possibly streaming and cable channel.

NOSTOLGIA,they used to show reruns of rare unsold or unaired pilots, rare short-lived shows like DATE WITH THE ANGELS, IT'S A GREAT LIFE-I think that was the name and THE GREAT GILDERSLEEVE (3 series which-if you've ever seen-is pretty obvious why they were short lived) and raritys like THE TEXACO STAR THEATER.

It's been 15 years since The WB signed off and was merged with UPN to birth The CW.

• The network officially launched in 1995 and became the go to channel for up and coming stars and dominated the teen genre/young adult for majority of its run.
  
• The Wayans Bros. would be the first primetime program that they aired followed by shows such as Unhappily Ever After, The Jamie Foxx Show, 7th Heaven, and The Steve Harvey Show.
  
• By 1997, they started to expand into the teen market with Buffy The Vampire Slayer originally on Mondays, where it was a ratings hit. Wanting to capture that success again they came out with shows such as Dawson's Creek, Felicity, and Charmed. Each of them were top each other in ratings with Charmed premiering to a record 7.7 million viewers at the time.
  
• Angel would see the networks first major spin off which garnered 7.5 million viewers, the 2nd highest debut after Charmed before Smallville came and premiered to a record breaking 8.4 million viewers.
  
• By 2003, the ratings for all their shows started to dwindle significantly to the point of UPN beating it and Univision beating it in demographics. By 2005, they announced that they would be closing up shop and merging with UPN which was owned by CBS in an effort to even out profits.
  
• The WB was successful in making their viewers feel at home with their shows and the actors as they would hold yearly promotional events where all of the stars from all of their shows would get together and party along with multiple WB lot promotional work. It could be felt with them doing an entire goodbye event with airing the pilots of their most well known shows and doing a goodbye promo unlike UPN which just went dark.
  
• Stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar once threatened to quit BTVS if it moved to UPN as she enjoyed the family atmosphere she had grown accustomed to behind the scenes.

TV Channels I Miss

You may have heard me mention these Canadian channels a few times over the years. They have all either disappeared completely or have been rebranded into less attractive channels.

NHL Network --- Now only available in US.
Much Music --- Canada's version of MTV.
TV Land Canada and Comedy Gold --- At one point, this was better than the original.
PRIME --- Classic TV and lifestyle channel that had a great lineup.
CTS --- Religious station which showed great classic family shows in the afternoon.
LoneStar --- Classic westerns running all day.
Teletoon Retro --- Classic cartoons from Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes and many others without the stupid hosts and annoying puppets.
The Score --- Formerly Canada's 3rd largest sports network after TSN and Sportsnet.

I thought the NHL channel is based in Canada (I know some of their studio shows originate here in Manhattan). Their coverage is certainly Canadian-centric.

Channel vs network here is vague, but then again watch mojo is notoriously low grade content.

Network is a meaningful question, since networks by definition cover a large area and are noteworthy enough to consider for some kind of ranking.

But a "channel" can mean almost anything, depending on context. Many broadcast channels no longer exist, but almost all of them served only one market and are of only local significance.

Cable "channels" are really more of a network in concept, so they should probabally be considered as a group.

Perhaps a more interesting question would be which ones exist in name only?
The History Channel, The Learning Channel, and The Discovery Channel no longer have any historical, educational, or instructive merit whatsoever so for all intents and purposes they no longer exist.

After following that link I came upon a blast from the past that I had totally forgotten about.

Voom. Since I was a very early adopter of HD programming, they were making the right pitch at the right time.....although ultimately I never signed up with them.

The story of how their ordeal played out was very interesting....
