Question Shows you feel you can't rewatch because of scandals, controversies, or crimes

Or are you able to ignore these things if the show is good enough? Let's get this out of the way since it's an obvious one, can you for example, still be able to watch The Cosby Show without feeling uncomfortable over what Bill Cosby has been accused of in the past few years?

Or how about being able to still watch 7th Heaven, despite knowing that the lead actor who played a minister and father is a child molester in real-life? And can you bring yourself to watch Smallville despite the knowledge that the actress playing Chloe Sullivan was in a sex cult and allegedly helped assault people?

I can go on and on, so I don't want to take up too much time. It basically goes back to the age old question, can you separate the art from the artist or the character from the actor?

I most definitely will still watch the Cosby Show. It’s one of my favorites.

It doesn't matter to me what they've done. If it's a show I like, I'm not going to quit watching it because an actor on the show done something wrong. That's like saying you're not going to buy something because of who promotes it. I know people like that too. It's crazy. I have the complete series of The Cosby Show and Roseanne. I only have one season of 7th Heaven but I will still buy more. People think about too much political crap when they watch a show. Just watch TV and enjoy it the way it was meant to be!

I can. I still love House of Cards even though the main character got in trouble.

Drugging and raping women is "political crap" ?

I can understand that point for Roseanne but not Cosby. If people want to watch The Cosby Show, fine, but those who won't - it's not because of "political crap." Cosby didn't send out an ill-advised tweet. He did terrible, terrible things.

I loved The Cosby Show, but I have difficulty watching it now. I never watched Seventh Heaven, but would not watch now, due to the Collins scandal.

I still watch Roseanne, and adore the characters. Roseanne Barr stood up for the working poor at a time when TV was ignoring the plight of poor families. Her racist tweets in 2018 justifiably got her fired, but it didn't taint the show for me: the producers removed the element causing problems before the show was marred completely, IMO.

My thoughts exactly. The examples of The Cosby Show and 7th Heaven are most certainly NOT "political crap." It's such a disgusting cop out to even suggest such a thing.

I will always be a fan of 7th Heaven. Unlike so many, I can separate actors from the roles they play.

Sorry, I didn't mean that raping women and molesting children was political. Of course that's wrong. I just meant that some people get so uptight about things going on and then won't watch a certain program or buy certain things. That was the political part. But I'm still just not going to stop watching a show because of something an actor did. If I liked the show before, I'll still like it.

I've got no interest in the Cosby Show, 7th Heaven, or Roseanne to begin with. But it's kinda nice knowing that I can justify my abhorrence for them based upon sound moral principles.

I can and do separate the TV characters from the actors and actresses who portrayed them.

I have to say that I definately would have a problem with watching "Cosby Show" today.
I kind of liked it back in the day, but now I can only watch scenes with no Bill Cosby in them.
However, I think I could watch "Seventy Heaven" without thinking about Stephen Collins's crimes.
And I don't have the energy to hate Roseanne just because she made one stupid tweet.
There are much worse things going around in the world.

I thought Roseanne was a horrible person long before the revival and tweet.

Default Is Admitted Child Abuse, Racism Less Serious Adult Female Sex Assault Allegations?

Why can you omit Stephen Collin's child abuse charges which he admitted guilt in but can't overlook Bill Cosby's allegations which he has steadfastly denied?

Roseanne's tweet was beyond stupid it was racist in nature...racism has a dire effect on many people's lives on a daily basis from jokes to discrimination. Racism is, has been, the cause of many of the World's societal ills ie Colonialism. What are some of the things in the World much worse than racism?

What makes you not able to overlook one over the other two?
