Default Rank Jeopardy's Guest Hosts from Best to Worst

These numbers are out of the perfect 10.0, which of course was Alex Trebek's gold standard.

1. Ken Jennings 9.3- It is really too bad he wasn't chosen as the permanent host. I thought Mayim or maybe Buzzy would beat him out, but not Mike.
2. Mayim Bialik 9.1
3. Buzzy Cohen 8.6- a mostly good host. Buzzy gets knocked down a bit from Ken and Mayim's level because of his loudness.
4. Anderson Cooper 8.1- His only problem was constantly apologizing to the contestants when they were wrong. A host especially of this show should not be doing that.
5. Mike Richards 7.8- He rounds out my top 5 because of technical proficiency. But I didn't like his superior pompous attitude to the contestants. And why bother with this farce of a search when he was just pushing for himself to Sony?
6. Robin Roberts 7.2- I can see why Robin is liked, she has a great personality.
7. David Faber 6.9
8. LeVar Burton 6.5- While he was better than several of the guest hosts, his fans have overhyped him or were expecting too much. While Mike Richards came across with a superior attitude, that was nothing compared to the high amount of smugness from LeVar. He was very cold to the contestants. Also, he was a lot louder than even Buzzy, was never this loud on Star Trek: the Next Generation. Plus I could tell a few mental lapses with him where he wasn't sure what to do. Maybe 20 years ago he would have been a good host, but I agree with James28 that he is too old now. I wasn't expecting to like LeVar's week less than Robin and David's.
9. Joe Buck 6.4- He gets a lot of haters but is easily better than several of the hosts.
10. Dr. Sanjay Gupta 6.0
11. Bill Whitaker 4.2- He seems like a nice guy, but was kind of boring.
12. Dr. Oz 1.5
13. George S. 1.3
14. Savannah Guthrie 1.1
15. Katie Couric 1.0
16. Aaron Rodgers 0.6- He was as bad of a Jeopardy! host as he is a good quarterback. No personality whatsoever and totally dull.

Nothing good deserves to be said about the bottom five of my list who had no business hosting Jeopardy! in the first place. Hosts that likely would have been naturals and much preferable to them are Ben Bailey from Cash Cab, Sarah from the clue crew, Danica McKellar, Jimmy from the clue crew, and maybe Mo Rocca with his geography bee experience. That could also be another way of Mike Richards putting his ego first not letting his employees overshadow him if Sarah and Jimmy wanted to be contenders.

Now that I have seen four nights with Joe Buck (missed Tuesday because of the Facts of Life marathon), I have upgraded Joe half a point. He really isn't as bad of a host as his haters make him out to be.

Jeopardy! guest-host Joe Buck claps back at James Holzhauer's jab at him

Last week, Jeopardy! champ Holzhauer sarcastically tweeted that he hoped Buck landed the hosting job full-time so he would have to exit his sports jobs broadcasting MLB and NFL games. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Buck shot back at Holzhauer, saying: “I wouldn’t know James Holzhauer if he was sitting here in my room. I don’t know much about him. I know about his success on the show, but I don’t know what kind of a guy he is. I have no idea. I couldn’t care less. I’m at the point now where I am so overreacting to Twitter. I don’t know who he roots for. I don’t know where he’s from. I don’t know what his favorite team is. I have no idea. So that’s how I took it and kind of did a little eye roll and moved on to the next 3-year-old’s diaper I had to change. That kind of stuff is becoming less relevant in my life."
