There was some talk last year on the LITB mailing list that a Stephanie Gorman had been murdered in 1965. This has also been reported on some LITB sites. I read this in the alt.obituaries newsgroup:
A few months ago I was doing some research on the old TV shows. After having read that the actress who played the girl in the episode Beaver's Autobiography was Stephanie Gorman, I posted it in here because she had been raped and murdered at 16. Some of the other fans of old TV shows discussed it in here, as did I, for a short time. Today I actually caught the episode for the first time in years. The minute the actress made her first appearance, I knew it wasn't Stephanie Gorman. I recognized the actress from the old Rosalind Russell film Five Finger Exercise (she played Roz's daughter -- Roz falls for the girl's tutor). Stephanie Gorman was said to only have appeared fleetingly in the film Bye Bye Birdie. I waited for the end credits and, sure enough, the actress on the Beaver episode was Annette Gorman. She was born in New York in September of 1947, only appeared in a handful of films and TV shows, and is still living as far as I know. I got the info that it was Stephanie Gorman in the Beav episode, and unfortunately carried that misinformation to this newsgroup. I should have double-checked my source (sigh). But here is the scoop -- a young acting hopeful named Stephanie Gorman was indeed raped and murdered in 1965. Her killer was never caught. But her only appearance was as a dance extra in the movie Bye Bye Birdie. It was Annette Gorman who appeared in the Leave it to Beaver episode "Beaver's Autobiography" in 1962. She is likely still living. That clears it up, hopefully. Sorry that I carried incorrect info to my friends here at alt.obits. JN |

JN,
The Internet Movie Database (imdb.com) has a listing for Stephanie Gorman, whom they claim was the victim of a homicide in 1965. They also have another listing for an Annette Gorman, whom they seem to indicate is still living. They give several movie credits for Annette but only one for Stephanie ("Bye Bye Birdie"). It also claims that both Annette and Stephanie appeared in the "Beaver's Autobiography" episode of "Leave It To Beaver." Are you absolutely sure they aren't the same person? Later, Art |
