Default Jensen Ackles is on board for The CW's Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters

https://deadline.com/2021/06/superna...cw-1234781239/

The Winchesters, which is in development at The CW, will revolve around Sam and Dean's parents, John and Mary Winchester, when they were young. Jensen Ackles and his wife, Supernatural recurring guest-star Danneel Ackles, will serve as executive producers. Jensen Ackles will also reprise his Dean Winchester role as narrator of the potential series. Former Supernatural co-executive producer Robbie Thompson will serve as The Winchersters' writer. "Before Sam and Dean, there was John and Mary," Deadline says of The Winchesters. "Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), The Winchesters is the epic, untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world." On Supernatural, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Samantha Smith played John and Mary Winchester. “After Supernatural wrapped its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. Because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it?,'” said Jensen Ackles. “When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”

Jared Padalecki says "I'm gutted" he first heard about Supernatural spinoff news on Twitter -- was he joking?

Padalecki tweeted his displeasure that he first heard the news that his former co-star Jensen Ackles was developing Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters on their characters' parents from Ackles tweeting of a Deadline article. "Dude. Happy for you," Padalecki tweeted. "Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter. I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever." When a Twitter user responded that "this has GOTTA be a bad joke," Padalecki insisted it was not. "This is the first I’ve heard about it. I'm gutted," he tweeted. Ackles has yet to publicly respond hours after Padalecki's tweet. As TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich points out, Padalecki later tweeted and deleted a tweet directed at the spinoff's writer, former Supernatural producer Robbie Thompson. “Et tu brute? Wow. What a truly awful thing you’ve done,” Padalecki's tweet read, according to Mitovich. “#Bravo you coward.” Meanwhile, Supernatural creator Eric Kripke gave his blessing to the series, tweeting: "When @JensenAckles first told me this story, I loved it. He & @DanneelHarris & @rthompson1138 are the perfect people to make it. (The other perfect person is too busy Texas Rangering.) Thanks for carrying the torch, guys, go kick it in the a**. Proud of you."

Jared Padalecki pleads for Supernatural fans not to hate after he expressed shock over The Winchesters prequel spinoff

Padalecki made it clear he wasn't joking when he tweeted he was "gutted" to learn about the spinoff from his former co-star Jensen Ackles and his wife Danneel Ackles from Twitter. And in a since-deleted tweet, Padalecki called the writer of the spinoff Robbie Thompson, a "coward," saying "what a truly awful thing you've done." But in a tweet this morning, he pleaded with Supernatural fans not to hate the people working on the spinoff. "Hey world," he tweeted. "Thank you for the love. Please PLEASE don’t send any hate or threats. I care deeply about everybody involved and would be in true misery if any of them were harmed or threatened."

I doubt it'll get picked up. The CW has never been interested in a spinoff of Supernatural. They tried a few times. Instead, they are more interested in shows that don't get any ratings and spinoffs of shows that aren't even hits for the channel. Nancy Drew reached a 0.0 in the demo and they're going to create a spinoff from the show. The CW works in weird ways.

As for Jared, he is such a loose canon. I predict one day he'll pull a Roseanne and ruin his career. Since I've already got this show complete on Blu Ray with digital copies made, I'm fine if he ruins this show from getting played on TV. I wish people would learn not to throw tantrums on social media, or better yet, don't use social media at all If you have something to say, say it in person to the people that matter. Strangers don't care and just end up feeding on turmoil because a lot of people love drama and creating it.

Jared Padalecki says of his surprise Twitter response to the Supernatural prequel news: "I should be old enough to know better"

In an interview with The New York Times, Padalecki discussed his "I'm gutted" response in June over his former co-star Jensen Ackles making The Winchesters without his knowledge. “It was just one of those things that because it was online, and people were assuming I was part of it, I really wanted to just say: ‘Hey, I’m not keeping a secret from you guys. I just don’t know about this,'” he said, adding: “I should be old enough to know better than to put something out there and expect that people will understand. It’s hard to tweet a specific tone. If you write it online, it’s like, ‘Oh, he doesn’t know! They’re going to kill each other! The world is ending!’ And I’m like, 'No, no, no.' (Laughs.) I try to avoid social media as much as possible because of that.”
